What is comprehensive dentistry?  How is it different than the dentistry I’ve had done?

Comprehensive dentistry, in essence, looks at the whole person, not just a tooth in trouble.  After a proper examination, treatment is recommended with the well-being of the whole person in mind.  We strive for the proper functioning of all the systems that make-up your teeth and mouth. This may be different than your previous experiences, which may have been simply “fixing” problems as they appear, with no consideration to long-term well-being.Back to the Top

Do you take dental insurance?  Are you on my dental insurance plan?

Yes, we will assist you in filing your insurance. (See our financial policy)  We are non-restricted providers, and therefore are not members of any dental plans or PPO’s.Back to the Top

Why does dental work cost so much?  What if I can’t afford it?

The longer dental problems are allowed to progress, the more extensive the treatment may become.  The least expensive treatment is to avoid treatment altogether, followed by early detection before a problem is allowed to progress.  If treatment is recommended, we will try to work within your budget and insurance parameters.  If applicable, third party financing, such as Care Credit, is also available.Back to the Top

I’ve had bad experiences with dentists in the past. Can sedation dentistry help ease my fear?

Absolutely.  Sedation dentistry can help alleviate any fear or anxiety you have about dentistry.  There are many modes of sedation, with IV sedation being the most comfortable and effective.  Regardless of which type of sedation is utilized, we always use a gentle, caring touch to make your time spent with us pleasant.Back to the Top

Is IV sedation safe?

IV sedation is the safest, most effective form of conscious sedation we offer.  The medicines we use are very safe, and our doctors are highly trained in advanced cardiac life support.  Your vital signs are monitored very closely throughout the procedure. Most patients that choose IV sedation sleep through any work being performed, and wake up with very little, if any, memory of the appointment.Back to the Top

I don’t have time for multiple appointments. Can all my work be completed comfortably in one appointment?

This will depend on the amount and complexity of your treatment.  If a lot of work is recommended, and time is a concern, you may choose to have all of your treatment completed in one visit.  IV sedation may be recommended in this instance.  You will remain sedated and comfortable throughout the procedure, and wake up with very little memory of the event.Back to the Top

Why should I have dental work done if my teeth and gums aren’t hurting?

Dental decay, cracked teeth, infection and gum disease may remain silent in the early stages of progression.  You may not even be aware there is a problem. Once your teeth or gums begin to hurt, the issue may have progressed beyond a simple fix.  Similar to other diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease, diagnosis and treatment of dental problems must be undertaken before problems such as pain and infection are present and noticed.Back to the Top

Can you help with my snoring or sleep apnea?

Snoring can be very disruptive; depriving you or your loved one of a good night’s rest, and obstructive sleep apnea can be dangerous is left untreated. There are custom made, prescription sleep appliances that can help alleviate snoring, and may help in certain cases of obstructive sleep apnea.Back to the Top

Should I be concerned about clenching and grinding my teeth?

Yes.  Clenching and grinding can be one of the most destructive habits that affect your teeth and gums.  Usually this damage happens over a period of time.  It may begin with worn and chipped teeth and jaw muscle fatigue or cramping.  If left untreated, it can lead to irreversible damage to your teeth and jaw joints as well as unmanageable pain.  Our doctors have been extensively trained to identify these problems and recommend necessary treatment or therapy necessary to avoid future damage.Back to the Top

What makes an integrative, biological dentist different from a conventional dentist?

An integrative, or biological dentist, treats you with the mindset that your mouth, teeth and gums are a highly integrated and important part of your entire body, and treats them accordingly. Our doctors have been extensively trained in providing this type of dentistry.  Typically, conventional dentistry focuses on maintaining the teeth and gums with very little emphasis on how procedures, materials and conditions may affect or compromise your overall health and well-being.Back to the Top

Why should I come all the way to Marble Falls to have my dental work done?

Many of our patients have traveled from out of town, out of state and even from other countries to receive their care at Stanley Dental.  The type of comprehensive and health-centered dentistry offered here makes our office unique.Back to the Top
